Amy Binder Therapy
Welcome
It takes a lot to reach out and ask for help, often many of us will struggle for a long time before reaching out, so I am really glad that you have found your way to this page.
Therapy can feel daunting but it’s my job to help create a space with you that feels warm, safe and genuine. A space where you feel you can open up without the worry of saying ‘the right thing’. It’s really important to me that we work at a pace that feels right for you, so there is no pressure to talk about things before you feel ready to.
Sometimes therapy is about making sense of what’s happening for you right now and other times it’s about looking back at the experiences and relationships that have shaped you and understanding how they continue to affect you today. I work in a relational way, meaning our relationship together is really important and we may also explore the key relationships in your life that help to shape who you are.
A little bit about me and my experience
I am a registered psychotherapist with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. I have over 10 years’ experience working within the mental health sector. I have particular experience working with young people aged 16–26, alongside my work with adults.
Across my career I have worked with different presentations such as; trauma, anxiety, children and young people, neurodivergence, identity issues, low mood, gender identity, low self-esteem/ confidence, experiences of sexual violence and difficulties in relationships.
My qualifications
MSc Counselling and Psychotherapy
MSc Clinical skills in Integrative Psychotherapy
Graduate Skill in Counselling
Although I work primarily from a Person-Centred approach, my additional training in Integrative Psychotherapy means that I can use techniques from different approached in our work to. We can discuss this when we meet and figure out how best to approach our work together so that it fits you.
My experience
What will therapy look like?
I offer 50 minute sessions, typically weekly, although please do get in touch if you would like to discuss alternative ways of engaging (e.g bi-weekly sessions).
I am based in South Manchester and offer in-person sessions in Chorlton and Altrincham or remotely via video/ telephone call.
It’s completely normal to feel nervous before starting therapy, and I will do my best to explain the process and help you feel comfortable as we get to know each other. What we talk about in each session will be led by you and what feels important to you. Your relationship with your therapist is really important to getting the most out of support, therefore, I offer a free 20 minute phone call where you can get a sense of what talking to me would feel like and see if it feels like the right fit for you. There is no obligation to continue working with me after this.
Sessions are charged at 65.00
Some clients I work with may need adaptations to sessions to help them engage. This might include us using creative approaches, different ways of communicating, or other adjustments depending on your individual needs. I aim to work in. neuro-affirming way and recognize everyone is different, so when we have a chat we can explore what might work for you.
